HS Graduation for Young Firefighters

Crashes Keep Firefighters Busy on Rt. 80

Truck Fire on The Interstate

Thursday shortly after 4 pm calls came in for a reported truck on fire on Route 80 West at mile marker 24.6 on the shoulder. Chiefs 2 and 3 arrived and reported a pickup truck with a flatbed 5th wheel trailer attached fully involved, Engine 59 arrived and stretched there front bumper line on the fire. The fire was confined to the truck with minor extension to the trailer. Rescue 55 was assigned to dike a storm drain and put down speedy dry and Haz-Mat pads to absorb the oil from the truck. There were no injuries and the fire was investigated by the New Jersey State Police the highway was reopened within a half hour.  

Tree Fire at Eagle Rock

Recently the fire department was dispatched to Eagle Rock Village for a tree on fire. The first units reported a tree next to the rear of a building was burning and threating a 2nd floor balcony 53 arrived and quickly put it out units returned within a half hour with no extension to the building.
