Just after midnight April 6th Netcong Police on routine patrol came across a three story taxpayer with apartments above with smoke coming out the second floor. The officer radioed in and the Netcong Fire company was dispatched and as chief one arrived a working fire assignment was sent out bring Stanhope, Roxbury and Budd Lake fire companies to the scene. Engine one stretched a line to the second floor and started an aggressive attack and searches for a reported man on the second floor but the fire in the 100 year old building began to travail the walls and fire was starting to advance to the third floor And the roof area so all companies were pulled out and a second alarm was transmitted. Stanhope’s ladder was put into service on the front side of the building while Flanders Fire came in and used there 95 foot tower ladder in the rear of the structure and several hand lines were put into place. The fire was brought under control by 5 in the morning crews remained on scene for several hours to remove the victim from the second floor the fire is under investigation by the Morris County Prosecutors Office and the Netcong Fire Marshal’s office as well as the Netcong Police. Mt. Arlington, Bryam, Hackettstown and Flanders fire companies were also called to the scene.
