Tuesday morning November 20th the Hackettstown Fire Company responded to 314 Lafayette St. for a report of second floor apartment fire, Police officers arrived and notified fire units of a working fire on the second floor. The first due engine and truck went to work with two lines to the second floor and started an aggressive interior attack as the Chief called for a ladder from Allamuchy fire and a Rapid Intervention Crew from Budd Lake as well as Mansfield Fire for manpower. Allamuchy fire laddered the roof and cut a vent hole as the fire was quickly knocked down and under control within a half hour. Crews checked for extension there were no injuries at the scene there was no one home at the time of the fire but several pets were rescued from the fire. The fire is under investigation by the County and local police.
