Thursday around 3 pm calls came in for a garage fire on Jocynda Rd. in the Flanders section of town upon arrival of Chief 91 and Car 50 they found a fire in the garage area of the 2-story home. With all occupants out of the house Engine 95 and 59 stretched 2 lines in the house and around the back of the house. The interior fire was quickly knocked down, and crews had to open ceilings to get to the fire that had made its way to the attic. There was some outside fire in a wood pile that was also extinguished. There were no injuries and the fire is under investigation by the Mount Olive Police and Fire Marshal’s office. Several mutual aid companies were dispatched as rapid intervention and cover assignments. With the lack of operating hydrants, a Tender Task force was dispatched.
