As tempters got into the high 90 firefighters were dispatched to Cedar Street in the Budd Lake section of town for a report of a fire in the basement area. Units arrived and had a heavy smoke condition Engine 53 pulled a line into the basement and quickly put the fire out. Engine 59 and Tower 96 assisted with a second line to the first floor to check for extension. Units vented and checked for any more extension. A second alarm was dispatched for assistance due to the high heat. There were no injuries, and the Mt. Olive Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
