For the second time in over a year, fire broke out at the Village Green Apartments Building #2. At 5:15 am, calls came in for smoke coming from and apartment Car 51 arrived and found one apartment with heavy smoke coming from the front door, and transmitted a working fire and a second alarm. Engine 53 came in, stretched a line to the first floor and found the fire in a closet under the stairs for the second floor. The stairs had burned away crews quickly put the fire out as other crews from Flanders and surrounding towns checked for extension and opened up celling’s on the second floor and also had a line in the basement hitting hot spots. The fire was brought under control within an hour with no injuries or displaced residences. All apartments that were affected were vacant they were just getting ready to re-open from last Januarys fire. Mount Olive Police and Fire Official are investigating the fire.
