The fire department took advantage of the vacant houses on the former site of Heralds landscaping in Flanders by training on search and rescue. The department trained with the Allamuchy Fire Department as crews were split up in groups of 4 and preformed search and rescue drills searching for victims and rescuing them. The crews drilled on taking victims out windows and down the areal ladder as well as the front door. The drill lasted 2 hours and all got some valuable training.
