Sunday August 9th around 3:30 in the morning NJ State Police reported a truck on fire on Interstate 80 East at mile marker 25. The Mount Olive Police dispatched the Budd Lake Fire Department to respond Chief’s 51 and 52 arrived and reported a trailer fully involved, the driver disconnected his tractor from the trailer and reported the truck was loaded with plastic bottles. Engine 59 arrived and stretched 2 hand lines out and started hitting the fire followed by Engine 53 and Tender 57 who help with extinguishment and water supply. 2 Tenders from Byram Twp. Fire assisted with water supply as well. The fire was brought under control within a half hour the NJ State Police were on scene for traffic control and the investigation. There were no injuries and the highway was totally reopen within 4 hours.
