Budd Lake Assist Warren County Fire

Tender 57 Went to Mansfield for a Barn Fire
Engine 59 Stood by in Hackettstown Fire House
Friday September 9, 2016 around 5 in the afternoon calls came in to the Warren County Dispatch Center reporting a barn on fire at the Donaldson Farm on Allen Road a local landmark in Mansfield Township. All 4 township fire companies were notified smoke could be seen for miles away the Chief upon arrival requested a 2nd alarm and a Tender Task force. The first 2 engines secured hydrants and started attacking the fire from a defensive posture as the roof had caved in and the back part of the 50 x 200 foot barn was full of hay witch made it hard for firefighters to attack. There was concern also for a report that there was pesticides and fertilizers on site as well so crew were careful to work around that and had several hand lines out and a backhoe was brought in to take down some of the building so they could get to the hay. Crews remained on scene for several hours hitting hot spots and cleaning up. There were no injuries reported and the fire is under investigation by Police and Fire Marshals. Hackettstown, Budd Lake, Independence, Washington Township and other Warren County agency’s assisted Mansfield Township units at the scene and with station coverage.
