Netcong Firefighters responded to a home on Highland Ave. for a reported fire on the second floor around 11:00 pm Chiefs 1 and 2 arrived and reported a working fire on the second floor and requested a second alarm. The first due Engine Company stretched a line to the second floor and made quick work of the fire. The Stanhope Netcong First Aid Squad was quickly treating a man that was rescued by Neighbors from the rear of the house and transported him to a local hospital. Mutual Aid fire companies assisted with the salvage and overhaul operations the fire was under control within a half hour and companies remained on the scene for several hours as the Netcong Police and Fire Marshal’s office conducted the investigation. The following fire companies assisted at the fire and station coverage Budd Lake, Stanhope, Byram and Roxbury.
