Budd Lake Assists Flanders in Apartment Fire

In the early morning hours of February 18th the Flanders Fire Co. was dispatched to Main Street for a reported apartment fire with the firehouse just down the street first arriving units were on scene in minutes and confirmed a working fire and entrapment. Chief Zeller requested the Budd Lake Fire Co. and a second alarm as firefighters from Engine 95 stretched a line in the front door of the apartment and started to knock down the fire and search for victims. During the search a young girl was found in a bedroom and removed to waiting EMS personal who then performed CPR on the girl and revived here and then transported her to a med-vac helicopter and flowed to a burn center. Budd Lake firefighters arrived and started searches of the second floor and then assisted Flanders firefighters on the first floor where two more victims were found in a back bathroom and removed out a window but sadly were pronounced at the scene. Firefighters remained on the scene well into the afternoon as the fire was investigated by the Mt. Olive Police, Fire Marshal’s Office and the County Prosecutors Office. The Netcong, Hackettstown and Chester Fire Companies were on scene as well as other County companies for station coverage.
