Sunday morning October 1st at 5:15 am calls came in to the Mount Olive Police Desk for a fire on Oxford Drive first arriving officers found a two story large dwelling well involved in fire. Assist Chief Dorlon called for a second alarm and a Tender task force due to no working hydrants in the area. Engine 59 arrived first and stretched two, two and a half inch blitz fire lines on the fire as the fire was throughout the house so companies had to go defensive from the start. Squad 56 took a position at the top of the street and set up a water shuttle operation as tenders came in from around the county. Flanders Engine 95 and a Stanhope engine went to the Fire House and set up a fill site for the Tenders. Several large diameter hose lines were deployed on the fire and there were several collapse of the fire building. The fire was under control around 8:30 and declared out by 10:30 am one engine went back to the scene three times for some small hot spots. There were no injuries and the fire is under investigation by the Mt. Olive Police and Fire Marshal’s office. The following Towns assisted at the fire and cover assignments.
