Budd Lake Firefighters Tackle Chinese Restaurant Fire

Friday night February 18th while on routine patrol a Mt. Olive Police Officer saw fire coming from the roof of the Lucky Garden Chinese Restaurant and had Budd lake Fire dispatched. Car 52 and 51 arrived and confirmed a fire in an exhaust fan on the roof and had Flanders Fire dispatched as well as Netcong fire for the R.I.C. team. E-53 arrived and stretched an inch & three quarter hand line and knocked down the fire from the exterior then stretched into the kitchen area as the crew from Ladder 58 laddered the roof and started to vent and extinguish the hidden fire in the roof. Flanders Tower 96 responded and did searches on the second and third floors witch were negative. The fire was under control within twenty minutes the kitchen worker suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. E-56, R-97, Hackettstown BLS and Budd Lake First Aid were on the scene assisting and Schoolyes Mountain had one Engine on standby in Budd Lake’s firehouse. The fire is under investigation by the Mt. Olive Police, Fire Marshal and Health Department.
