Tuesday night February 1st The Flanders Fire Company was dispatched to 27 Tinc Road for the garage fire, Mt. Olive police arrived and confirmed an attached garage was on fire and the Budd Lake Fire Company was then dispatched to assist. Budd Lake’s Car 51 arrived on scene within minutes and reported a 2 story dwelling going good. Engine 95 and Tower 96 arrived and stretched a two and a half inch line on the fire as well as two inch and three quarter lines. The fire spread quickly and was through out the house so operations Chief Maloney had all units go to a defensive attack, shortly after that the first floor collapsed and the rest of the house was now in danger of collapse. Firefighters were hampered by a large amount of snow in the yards and streets the road department along with neighbors assisted in digging out a fire hydrant that was completely covered in snow. It took crews around 90 minutes to contain the fire and despite the ice, snow and cold tempters there were no injuries at the scene. Fire companies from Roxbury, Chester, Budd Lake, Netcong and Washington Township as well as the Morris County Mutual Aid coordinator Chief Alderton responded to the scene as well as cover assignments. The fire is under investigation by the Mt. Olive Police and the Fire Marshal’s Office.
