As the lakes and waterways are frozen solid it is time to train on the ice so when the spring thaw come firefighters will be at the ready. The Budd Lake Fire Department did just that on a cold and damp Sunday drilling on the ice rescue sled and life ring as well as cutting through the ice with chain saws and ice augers. By putting the firefighters in the water as victims they get a sense of the real thing and the realization that if someone goes through the ice there will be open water. The crew took turns being rescuer and victim for abought 3 hours and then back to the fire house for much needed warm refreshments.
